Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk beat Hu Yun of Hong Kong to book his place in the quarter-finals of the US$350,000 Singapore Open yesterday. The eighth-seeded Thai needed 47 minutes to overcome his 14th-ranked opponent 21-17, 23-21 in the second round of the BWF Superseries tournament. Chayanit Chaladchalam and Phataimas Muenwong upset seventh seeds and compatriots Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai 21-17, 21-17 to reach the last eight of the women's doubles.
